Attacker gets fast-track to prison for shoving Calgary grandmother onto rails
CALGARY- A woman who admitted to pushing an elderly woman off an LRT platform in Calgary while high on alcohol and drugs has been sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison.
Stephanie Favel, 35, was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty earlier this year to a charge of aggravated assault in the unprovoked November 2018 attack.
Rozalia Meichl, 64, was left a paraplegic after suffering head and upper back injuries when she hit the tracks.
A train entering the station managed stop before hitting her.
