Downtown tree pruning set to begin

Jul 12, 2019 | 7:34 AM

Tree pruning is set to begin in downtown Red Deer next week.

City officials say Parks aerial lift trucks (bucket trucks) will be pruning city owned trees in the downtown area between 48 and 52 Street and 47 and 51 Avenue.

Work will take place on weekdays beginning July 15, with an expected completion date of August 2.

As a result, driving lane and parking closures will be intermittent between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and will be signed accordingly.

Officials say City tree maintenance is part of a rotational program that includes pruning for safety, plant health care and clearance.

Residents and commercial businesses are asked to adhere to safety and traffic control signage to maintain adequate safe work zones between the public, arborists and crews.

The City thanks members of the public for their patience and cooperation.
