EDMONTON- The Alberta Teachers’ Association says it will file a constitutional challenge of new provincial legislation that defers discussions on teacher salaries.
The United Conservative government passed a bill last week that delays wage talks that were agreed to in negotiated public-sector contracts.
The teachers association says the legislation violates the right to collective bargaining.
President Greg Jeffery says the ATA will demand that contracts and agreements are respected.
