Sylvan Lake man charged in father’s murder

A 28-year-old Sylvan Lake man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his father.

On Monday, at approximately 4 p.m., RCMP responded to a complaint in Lacombe County.

Upon arrival, officers found 52-year-old Patrick Alexander Freeman with significant injuries.

He was airlifted by STARS to a Calgary hospital but later died of his injuries.

His son, 28-year-old Patrick William Freeman, has been arrested and is in custody at the Red Deer Remand Centre. He made a brief court appearance Wednesday morning via CCTV where the case was put over to August 2 in Rimbey Provincial Court.
