St. Jean Baptiste Day family picnic

RED DEER- This St. Jean Baptiste Day, June 24, from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m., the public is invited to join the Métis Nation of Alberta Local 492 – Region 3, the ACFA régionale de Red Deer, and the Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery (MAG) for a family picnic in Heritage Square.

Settle into the green space surrounding the MAG and enjoy a picnic with family and friends.

Bring your own picnic basket, or purchase food from the food truck onsite.

Activities include, live fiddling music by Brianna Lizotte, a performance by the Olds Youth Mètis Dancers, and tours of the exhibit The Witness Blanket.

Admission to this event is free, donations are gratefully accepted.

The MAG is located at 4525 47A Ave. and Heritage Square is located just a few steps to the south.

In case of inclement weather the entire event will move to the Golden Circle.

“We are proud to celebrate St. Jean-Baptiste Day with the ACFA and the Metis Nation of Alberta,” says Lorna Johnson, Executive Director of the MAG. “It is a great opportunity for everyone to come and enjoy and learn about our Quebecois and Metis heritage. Everyone is welcome!”
