Buccaneers win season opener

The Central Alberta Buccaneers started their 2019 Alberta Football League season on a winning note on Saturday with a 31-21 road win over the Calgary Wolfpack.

Axsivier Lawrence, Braydon Epp, Ben Hnatiuk and rookie Kaidyn Puttick scored touchdowns for the Bucs in a rain-soaked tilt at Shoudlice Park.

Lawrence, who missed the entire 2018 season to a torn Achilles, scored on a 78-yard bomb from quarterback Jarrett Burzuk.
