2019 property tax notices in the mail

May 22, 2019 | 7:37 AM

Red Deer property owners can expect to receive their 2019 property tax notices in the mail within the next few days.

Property owners who do not receive their tax notice by the first week of June should contact Revenue & Assessment Services at 403-342-8126, to request a copy of their bill.

Property tax payments are due Friday, June 28. Residents are encouraged to pay early, before the Canada Day long weekend, to avoid late payment penalties which are applied to any unpaid tax account balance on July 1.

Tax payments can be made by mail, online or telephone banking, or in person at most financial institutions or City Hall. If you choose to pay online or at your bank, please allow ample time for your payment to arrive at The City, as some banks require several days to process transactions. Also, remember, payments sent by mail must be postmarked by Canada Post on or before June 28 to avoid late-payment penalties.

To avoid the hassle of standing in line or worrying about tax payment deadlines, many Red Deerians have enrolled in The City’s Tax Instalment Plan (TIP) and pay their property taxes through monthly automatic withdrawals. Property owners can join TIP anytime by visiting the website and downloading the form. The deadline to enroll to pay 2019 taxes with TIP is June 14.
