PONOKA – On Monday May 15, at approximately 2:25 a.m., a member of the Ponoka RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspicious person located on a rural property.

Upon arrival, the officer located a man who proceeded to provide a false name.

Further investigation revealed the true identity of the man was 25-year-old Collin James Courteoreille from Spruce Grove.

He was wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant for violating his Statutory Release.

In addition, Courteoreille has been charged with one count of obstructing a police officer and one count of identity fraud.

He appears in Ponoka Provincial Court on May 24.

“Everyone has a role to play in keeping our communities safe. This successful arrest is a direct result of citizens who noticed something suspicious and called the police,” the detachment says in a release. “If you see something, do not assume someone else has reported it. Write it down and call the police. A strong partnership between citizens and the RCMP is critical to keeping our communities safe.”
