Red Deer region’s jobless rate moves higher in April

There was a significant increase in the Red Deer region’s unemployment rate last month.

According to the latest figures from Statistics Canada, the Red Deer region saw an unemployment rate of 6.5 per cent in April, up from 5.3 percent the month before and 5.1 per cent in April of last year.

Alberta’s unemployment rate came in at 6.7 per cent last month, down slightly from 6.9 percent in March and the same rate as April, 2018.

Nationally, Canada’s unemployment rate was 5.7 per cent in April, down from 5.8 per cent in March and in April of last year.
