Ponoka cowboy wins Red Deer bull riding event
A Ponoka cowboy has won the Rebel Energy Services Xtreme Bulls event in Red Deer to open the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association’s 2018 season.
Zane Lambert, a Manitoba native, had a solid two-ride performance that enabled him to collect 172.5 points for the win and a payday of $3,756.
The win, coupled with his second place finish at Regina’s Agribition Rodeo in November, gives Lambert a nice boost as he prepares for the CFR in Red Deer later this year.
In a release, he says, ”It’s so close to home for me, I love Red Deer and I’m really happy the CFR is staying in Alberta,” beamed Lambert. “The City and the Westerner really wanted it and I think they’ll do a great job putting it on. I’m excited about it and I darn sure would like to be part of the first one here in 2018.”
