Flu-related deaths in AHS Central Zone now 16

The number of flu-related deaths in Alberta Health Services Central Zone this season now stands at 16.

That’s according to the latest stats from AHS which also shows the total number of influenza-related deaths province-wide being 69. The breakdown shows 25 flu-related deaths in the Calgary Zone, 17 in the Edmonton Zone, eight in the North Zone and three in the South.

The number of Albertans admitted to hospital with lab-confirmed influenza shows 284 in the Central Zone, 955 in the Calgary Zone, 781 in the Edmonton Zone, 248 in the North Zone and 170 in the South for a total of 2,438 province-wide.

Confirmed cases of Influenza A or B in the Central Zone as of February 22 now checks-in at 1,243. Elsewhere, those numbers are 2,954 in the Calgary Zone, 1,866 in the Edmonton Zone, 1,058 in the North Zone and 565 in the South for a total of 7,778 province-wide.
