North-end school site going from Catholic to Francophone

The site for a new school in Red Deer’s north end is changing hands.

At their meeting on Tuesday, city council gave unanimous approval to first reading of a bylaw amendment to have the designated school site in Kentwood West go from Catholic to Francophone.

Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools has been the designated future builder for some time, but recently stated they don’t need the City-owned land.

Should the bylaw amendment be given final approval, the site would move to Conseil Scolaire Centre-Nord, which operates École La Prairie.
