Province looks to give local food industry a boost
EDMONTON- The Notley government has introduced new legislation it hopes will boost the local food industry.
The Supporting Alberta’s Local Food Sector Act would see the establishment of a Local Food Council that would look at growing the industry.
It would also see a new Alberta Local Food Week held during the third week of August.
Agriculture Minister Oneil Carlier was asked how this event would not get lost in the blizzard of events that happen in the summer.
