The Town of Sylvan Lake has announced a new Chief Administrative Officer.

Wally Ferris will join the organization as of May 22.

With over 24 years of municipal experience, Ferris comes to Sylvan Lake from the City of Fort St. John in British Columbia.

“Mr. Ferris joins the Town team bringing with him a depth of professional experience and training, a strong focus on a team approach to management, and a service attitude that fits well with our culture,” says Mayor Sean McIntyre. “We look forward to working with Mr. Ferris to serve Sylvan Lakers and together build a community that is resident focused, visitor friendly, and a great place to do business and raise a family.”

The Town’s current CAO, Betty Osmond, announced her retirement last fall.

“I want to personally thank Mrs. Osmond for her years of dedicated service to Sylvan Lake and congratulate her on her well-earned retirement,” McIntyre added. “The Town of Sylvan Lake is a much better organization today, thanks to her service, leadership, and example. We are grateful for Mrs. Osmond and wish her all the very best as she begins her next chapter.”

She has managed the Town since 2010 and her final day is May 4.
