FORT MCMURRAY- Suncor has officially opened its Fort Hills oilsands project north of Fort McMurray.
Premier Notley says the project put 79-hundred people to work at the peak of construction and is employing 14-hundred people full-time now that the facility is operational.
Over the life of the project, the government estimates that Fort Hills could generate eight billion dollars in royalties to the province.
Notley says the Fort Hills grand opening shows that things continue looking up for the Wood Buffalo region and working families in Alberta’s energy sector.
