RCMP seized a loaded sawed-off shotgun, a knife, a tool used to break into vehicles, ammunition and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was under a number of court-imposed weapons prohibitions and RCMP determined that the shotgun had been stolen and its serial number defaced.

On Nov. 16, Corim Kyle Conway pleaded guilty to several counts including resist/ obstruct peace officer, two counts of fail to comply with conditions and several firearms-related counts. He was sentenced to 300 days in jail, minus 61 days’ credit for pre-trial custody, leaving him with 239 days left to serve.

Conway was wanted on nine outstanding warrants at the time of his October arrest.

The court case for a woman accused of stealing over a million dollars from a Sylvan Lake bank is reportedly heading toward a resolution.

Police allege Sarah Miles Brouilette stole $1,148,020 while she was employed as a loan officer at ATB Financial in Sylvan Lake.

RCMP began their investigation in August 2017 after receiving a report from ATB alleging that an employee had obtained numerous loans by using the personal information of clients and other people known to the suspect.

Brouliette faces charges of theft over $5,000, fraud over $5,000, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and two counts of laundering the proceeds of crime.

The case returns to court Dec. 18.

Charges have been withdrawn for a Sylvan Lake man and Ponoka woman accused in a home invasion in Rimbey.

In the early morning of April 13, RCMP say two males were woken in a residence when four suspects entered and assaulted them, resulting in minor injuries.

Ethier and Lewis were to face a preliminary hearing in Rimbey provincial court on Oct. 23. Instead, the charges against them were withdrawn due to lack of co-operation from a civilian involved in the case.

Charges against a third suspect, Jimmy Morsette of Blackfalds, were stayed on Nov. 6.

A man charged in an alleged armed robbery in north Red Deer will face a preliminary hearing.

RCMP responded just after 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 8 to a store on Gaetz Avenue where staff had told them a male was shoplifting and in possession of a large knife. The male fled the store in a blue SUV with two female companions.

Mounties located the vehicle, which refused to stop for police and fled northbound on Gaetz before heading west towards the Johnstone area.

Police later found the vehicle abandoned at James Street and Jacobs Close and arrested a male suspect following a foot chase.

Jordan Dempster, 22, is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, robbery with a weapon, operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police, resisting a peace officer, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and failing to comply with probation.

His preliminary hearing in Red Deer provincial court is scheduled for July 12-15, 2019.
