Russia, USA open with wins at Hlinka Gretzky Cup
Preliminary round play in Pool B for the Hlinka Gretzky Cup got underway Monday with a pair of games at the Servus Arena.
Russia romped to a 7-2 win over Finland in the opening game. Arseni Gritsyuk scored twice, Vasili Podkolzin added a goal and two assists. Red Deer Rebels forward Oleg Zaitsev also scored for Russia.
In the evening game, the United States cruised to a 6-0 win over the Czech Republic.
Grant Silianoff had a big night with a goal and three assists for the Americans while Robert Mastrosimone scored twice.
