Vandervlis gives solid Vipers lineup a valuable boost
After a slow start, the Red Deer Vipers are putting together another solid Heritage Junior Hockey League campaign. And they’re adding a big piece ahead of the stretch run.
The Snakes are 19-6-1 this season, good for 39 points and second place in the Northern Division behind only Airdrie (54 points).
“Unfortunately, that’s been the case the last two years for us. We started 6-4 last year and 5-5 this year,” Vipers head coach JD Morrical said of his team’s tepid start to the year.
“I don’t know if it’s the way we coach the team or if it’s the turnover of players, but it takes a bit to get them playing the way want them to. Last year we were able to rattle off 10 wins in a row and this year we won 13.”
