Alberta falls to Ontario in ringette quarterfinals
The atmosphere at the Collcutt Centre was electric Wednesday night as Alberta took on undefeated Ontario in quarterfinals action of the 2019 Canada Winter Games ringette tournament.
In the end, Ontario was able to rally in the fourth quarter to knock off the scrappy Albertans 8-6.
After a scoreless first, Alberta jumped out to a 1-0 lead after Marla Wheeler fired one past Ontario goalie Janna Griffioe’s shoulder. Madeline Maclean would answer for Ontario shortly after, and the teams would trade goals after and headed into halftime tied 2-2.
Just over three minutes into the third, Claire Wyville snuck one in to give Ontario the lead back, and they would sit on that lead until goals from Alyssa Hall and Victoria Shennan put Alberta up by one.
