Nov 2, 2026 | 4:50 PM

The Red Deer Symphony Orchestra is set to hold “Force of Nature,” an upcoming show to continue its milestone 40th anniversary season.

“Force of Nature” will take place on Saturday, November 14, at the Red Deer Polytechnic Arts Centre.

The evening will showcase guest violin soloist Diana Cohen, who is also the concertmaster of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO).

She will join the RDSO to perform Max Bruch’s “Scottish Fantasy”, in what they describe as a sweeping and dramatic masterwork that captures the spirit, folk melodies, and rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands.

“Diana Cohen is a powerhouse on the violin, and bringing a musician of her calibre to Red Deer is a wonderful highlight for our 40th anniversary season,” said RDSO Music Director, Claude Lapalme, in a media release. “Bruch’s ‘Scottish Fantasy’ is full of passion, virtuosity, and memorable melodies. It really is an irresistible force of nature.”

Tickets are available at rdso.ca, by phone at (587) 862-0508, and in person at the RDSO office.

The Red Deer Symphony Orchestra (RDSO) is Central Alberta’s largest and longest-running professional performing arts organization.
