One of Canada’s top female amateur golfers wasn’t quite on top of her game this week, missing the cut at the CPKC Canadian Women’s Open on Friday.
Eileen Park of Red Deer is just 17 and was playing in the tournament for the first time after earning an exemption by impressively winning last month as an amateur in the PGA Women’s Championship of Canada.
Park fired a 78 (+8) on day one at Edmonton’s Mayfair, followed by a round two of 76 (+6) to finish +14, well off the eventual cut line at even par.
Park was one of 13 amateurs playing in the tournament, and was coming off a 7th-place showing at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship, which took place last week in Toronto.
