Working with the fire

Jul 24, 2026 | 6:01 AM

There is nothing more empowering for a servant of God to walk with the fire of God burning within.

The reverse is also true.

There is nothing more unsatisfying and unproductive than for a servant of God to walk without the fire of God burning within.

The chasm is great and when we experience the great joy and fulfillment of a Spirit filled life, there is no turning back.

As the great hymn goes, “I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back. No turning back.”

This last week, a great movement of God happened.

It was disguised as Westerner Days and within the framework were elements that came together in a marvelous way.

During the parade, there was a Faith float that simply presented the Gospel and John 3:16

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

A simple cross hung above the verse, and the fruits of the Spirit were displayed for all to see.

Those who lined the parade route had the opportunity to read words of LIFE.

During Westerner Days, an evangelism booth was set up with walking sticks from the Christian Farmers along with bibles, tracts and the opportunity to pray for those with burdens. 2026 is the 5th year of our presence in the marketplace.

In previous years, there has been a good response, but this year after months of prayer, planning and preparation an explosion happened. Faithful servants came out to be light in the Westerner buildings and lost people came. Often 20-30 people came to hear His Word and came for prayer.

People wanted the ‘Jesus Stick,’ and the gospel of salvation was presented. More than 1,000 were handed out. 1200-1300 people heard the word of God and His promise of salvation in 5 days.

The Holy Spirit fell on our booth and drew people as if a magnet compelled them.

Lives were changed, their hunger for things of God overwhelmed them and they responded time and time again.

There is only one way to describe what happened. Revival!

Revival hit Red Deer in such a way that we could only respond in faith and obedience. What caused such a response?

Faith. The Holy Spirit. Obedience. The will of God. His fire fell on His servants time and time again and we were changed, we were blessed and from the outside, people could only watch and ask the question, “What is it that you guys are doing that draws so many people?”

One answer. The Kingdom of God is calling men, women and children of all ages unto himself.

Hallelujah!

Only one question remains, what will you do for the kingdom of God when your opportunity comes? When someone askes you the reason for your joy, do not retreat. Respond with fire in your heart, love in your eyes and an attitude that serving God matters everywhere and every time!

Amen.
