Former Bowden Institution correctional officer charged with breach of trust by a public official
A former correctional officer at the Bowden Institution was charged with breach of trust by a public official following an investigation.
Innisfail RCMP say in July 2025, they began investigating after they were notified by Correctional Service Canada, Bowden Institution, of allegations of breach of trust against a correctional officer.
The officer immediately resigned after learning of the investigation.
The investigation unveiled that the officer had an alleged romantic relationship with an inmate and had been allegedly smuggling contraband into the institution for the inmate to sell at inflated prices. This includes nicotine patches and a cellphone.
