Blackfalds Bulldogs netminder Olivér Király named finalist for BCHL’s Top Goaltender

The British Columbia Hockey League announced Blackfalds Bulldogs netminder Olivér Király has been named a finalist for the Michael Garteig Trophy as the league’s Top Goaltender.

Other finalists include Cowichan Valley Capitals goalie Rhett Stoesser and West Kelowna Warriors netminder Angelo Zol.

Stoesser previously suited up for the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL from 2022 to 2024.

Király posted a 2.30 GAA this season, which was the league’s second lowest, and a .906 save percentage that was ranked third.

The Budapest, Hungary product finished the regular season with a 14-6-2 record, where he recorded four shutouts.

Three of his shutouts came within his first five games of his BCHL career. He went on to win eight of his first nine starts.

The Bulldogs are in the midst of a first-round BCHL playoff series against the Sherwood Park Crusaders. After Wednesday night’s 5-2 loss, the Bulldogs trail in the best-of-seven series three games to one.
