QEII Highway very icy Monday morning

Roads are very icy in central Alberta this morning, particularly on the QEII Highway between Lacombe and Blackfalds.

Alberta RCMP media relations, Cst. Mathew Howell, confirms there were at least five crashes on that stretch today, including a rollover of a larger truck (pictured).

There have been no serious injuries, Howell shares.

RCMP urge caution on the roads throughout the day.

Today’s forecast high for Red Deer is +4 degrees Celsius, before dipping to -1 overnight, and continuing that thaw/freeze cycle through at least Thursday, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.
