Two men from Red Deer have been arrested and charged following an alleged attack that is said to have involved a machete.

Red Deer RCMP say it was about 11:40 a.m. on March 14 when they were alerted to an altercation between three males in the parking lot of Taylor Heights Apartments on 60 Street.

Police say two males had approached the third, and attacked him with a machete. They also stole a bag from the man, allegedly. They fled, but were arrested not long after.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and was taken to hospital.

RCMP say the attack was targeted, and that there wasn’t, nor is any public safety risk.

The two accused, 33-year-old Noel Dopiti, and 29-year-old Michael Whiddon, were remanded ahead of court appearances on April 7.

They are each charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of robbery.
