Darcy Blum has been named principal of the Lacombe Outreach School.

Wolf Creek Public Schools made the announcement on Wednesday as Blum brings 21 years of service to the division.

Blum holds a master of science in education from Wilkes University and has also participated in the division’s Aspiring Leaders Program.

“I am honoured to step into this role at Lacombe Outreach School,” said Blum in a media release. “This school has a strong culture of care and support, and I look forward to working alongside our staff and students to continue creating meaningful opportunities for success for every learner.”

He most recently served as assistant principal at the Outreach School and previously acted as principal during certain stints of absence.

He first joined the school in 2007, and since then, the division says, he’s advocated for inclusive and adaptive learning environments that support diverse student needs.

During his time with Wolf Creek Public Schools, he has served as department head for the At Home Learning Program from 2020 to 2023, as a teacher in the Summer School Program from 2006 to 2023, and as an LOS learning coach from 2013 to 2015.

He also began his teaching career with WCPS at Eckville Jr. Sr. High School.

“Darcy’s dedication to students and his passion for alternative education are evident in everything he does,” said Sonja Dykslag, Assistant Superintendent of People Services. “He is a thoughtful and enthusiastic leader who understands the importance of meeting students where they are at. We are confident he will continue to build a supportive and engaging learning environment at Lacombe Outreach School.”

Blum will assume the role from current Principal Rob Reid, who has chosen to return to a full-time teaching position.
