A third person has been arrested and charged in connection to an alleged downtown Red Deer armed robbery.

The incident took place downtown on March 24, with the victim being a student from nearby Central Middle School (grades 6-8). No one was hurt, but the victim, a 12-year-old, had their backpack stolen. The backpack has been recovered.

It was originally shared the incident happened at Sorenson Station, but then authorities confirmed it took place on the north side of City Hall, a block away.

In the latest update on March 30, they more specifically share that it happened at 48 Avenue and 50 Street, which is the intersection of City Hall, the Youth HQ building, Gaetz United, and the old courthouse.

“As a result of the investigation, RCMP determined the victim was followed by the suspects as he walked from Sorensen bus station,” RCMP say.

RCMP now share that the youths, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are 15 and 13-years-old.

The 13-year-old male has been charged with one count of Robbery with a Knife. He has been remanded into custody ahead of a March 30 court appearance.

The two 15-year-olds have each been charged with Robbery with a Knife, but they were released, with court appearances on April 9 and 16.
