RDP hosting several free events this spring

Red Deer Polytechnic PSA — RDP invites members of the public, along with faculty, staff and students to a variety of complimentary spring events which highlight multidisciplinary student applied research and creative work. 

“At RDP, hands-on learning and real-world application are at the heart of the student experience,” says Lindsay Engel, Vice President, Academic and Student Experience. “These events offer a unique window into the learning, creativity and innovation happening every day at Red Deer Polytechnic.” 

• April 2 | Visual Arts Year End Student Exhibition | Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery | 7-8 pm 

Red Deer Polytechnic Visual Art Diploma students will showcase selected artwork across a variety of mediums, including ceramics, drawings, paintings and sculptures. After the Opening Reception, guests can view the art and discuss the creative work with the artists. Some art may be available for purchase.  

• April 10 | Student Science Conference | Red Deer Bottling Forum/Margaret Parsons Theatre | main campus| 4-7:30 pm

• April 11 | Student Science Conference | Red Deer Bottling Forum/Margaret Parsons Theatre | main campus | 8:30 am-4pm 

This Student Science Conference will highlight applied research and projects that have been completed by Red Deer Polytechnic students enrolled in Science programs.   

• April 11 | Agora Student Conference and Journal | Cenovus Energy Learning Common | main campus | 9 am-5 pm 

The Agora Undergraduate Student Conference will showcase student work from Creative Arts, Justice Studies, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Social Work, celebrating student achievement and excellence.  

• April 17 | AVFX Year End Showcase | Arts Centre Mainstage | main campus| 6-9 pm 

RDP’s graduating Bachelor of Applied Arts in Animation and Visual Effects students will present their fourth-year demo reels.  

• April 18 | Film Production Year End Gala | Arts Centre Mainstage | main campus | 6-9 pm 

Red Deer Polytechnic students will feature their films, including behind-the-scenes insights into their creative process. Guests can vote on their favourite film with the winner receiving the Audience Choice Award.  

• April 27 | Psychology Research Poster Presentations | Library Main Floor | main campus | 1-3 pm 

RDP’s fourth-year Psychology Independent Study students will exhibit their research that they have conducted throughout the year. Guests can view the posters and ask the students questions.
