Lacombe Police arrest 40-year-old on 8 warrants

Mar 30, 2026 | 4:47 PM

Lacombe Police Service (LPS) have charged a 40-year-old man on outstanding warrants.

LPS says it was about 6:30 p.m. on March 23 when officers were dispatched to Lacombe Centre mall, following a report of a suspicious person at the building’s rear.

It was reported to them that a male was loitering near a mechanical room access door.

“Upon arrival, officers located a male matching the description exiting a rear door of the mall with a bicycle and attached trailer containing personal belongings. When approached by police, the male initially provided officers with a false identity belonging to a deceased individual,” police say.

Further investigation confirmed the male was someone other than who he’d claimed to be at first, and in fact was wanted on eight outstanding warrants.

The man was arrested without incident.

During the investigation, police say they located items allegedly stolen from within the mall and were concealed nearby. A search incidental to arrest also located edged weapons among his belongings. Officers further located identification belonging to the deceased individual the man had initially identified himself as.

As a result, he faces the following charges:

* Obstruct Peace Officer

* Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest

* Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

* Possession of Identity Documents

* Fail to Comply with Release Order

The Lacombe Police Service would like to thank the member of the public who reported the suspicious activity.
