Annual Red Deer Xplore Sport Day happens March 28

Mar 25, 2026 | 11:05 AM

Saturday, March 28 is going to be a fun one over the G.H. Dawe Centre, where the annual Xplore Sport 365 Day is taking place.

From rowing to adaptive sports, from dance to masters swimming, there is something for everyone, says Central Sport CEO Trevor Thomas.

“Think of it as a sports trade show where you can come in, stop and talk to local sports organizations at their table, and then actually try the sport or activity as well,” he shares.

Thomas says the best way to support local sports groups is by giving them exposure, and Xplore Sport Day is one of the best ways to do that.

“A lot of these groups, people may have never heard of them, such as the Nuclear Free Roller Derby Club or Red Deer Pond Hockey; then there’s the Red Deer Tennis Club, and we’ll have the Special Olympics there,” he says.

“The benefits of sport for kids are huge. You can learn healthy habits from an early age, and you’ll also find the social benefits in having a group of friends; then there are the mental benefits of being strong and resilient.”

It’s important to stress that this event isn’t just for kids, with organizations serving folks from ages five to 85, and perhaps older.

Xplore Sport 365 Day runs from 12-4 p.m. on March 28 at the Dawe Centre (56 Holt Street). There will be giveaways and draws.
