Trial date set for store employee accused of distributing intimate images

A trial date has been set for a local man accused of distributing intimate images without consent. 

Jacob Gammon, 23, of Red Deer, is scheduled for trial in Red Deer Court of Justice on March 10, 2027. 

He was charged on Sept. 2, 2025, for an incident that allegedly occurred on Aug. 12, 2025.  

Police say that while working at the Tom Harris Telus & Koodo Store in the Bower Place Shopping Centre in Red Deer, the suspect allegedly texted himself intimate images to his phone from a customer’s device, who took their phone in to complete a data transfer. 

As a result, Gammon was charged with one count of distribute intimate image per section 162.1(1) of the Criminal Code.

rdnewsNOW reached out to Tom Harris, Telus & Koodo for comment, and received an emailed statement from Dave Smyth, dealer principal at Tom Harris Cellular. 

He explained that the employee did not uphold their strict code of conduct, and as a result, they were immediately terminated. 

“We take the privacy of our customers and their information extremely seriously,” he wrote. “We fully support the police in their investigation, and have used this isolated incident to reinforce our privacy training with all team members.” 

RCMP say Gammon was released on an undertaking in September and remains out of custody.
