There’s always something special you’ll see or hear at a performance of the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra (RDSO), and this time, it’ll be a violin prodigy.

Nautica-Pearl Lehocky, recent winner of the RDSO Concerto Competition, will join the orchestra for its March 28 Main Series Concert #5.

Lehocky will perform Samuel Barber’s famous violin concerto.

“Watching a young artist of Nautica-Pearl’s calibre step onto the professional stage will be thrilling for the orchestra and audience alike,” says RDSO Music Director, Claude Lapalme.

“She brings an incredible energy to the Barber concerto, which is the perfect bridge to Mozart’s ‘Jupiter’, often considered the greatest symphony ever written.”

The second half of the program features Mozart’s Symphony No. 41, known as the “Jupiter.”

As the final symphony written by the legendary composer, it is celebrated for its creativity, depth, and triumph, the RDSO says.

The March 28 concert begins at 7:30 at the RDP Arts Centre. Tickets are available at rdso.ca, by phone at 403-346-0021, or in person at the RDSO office. Tickets start at $42.
