Iron Ridge Secondary preparing for inaugural graduation

Mar 23, 2026 | 10:10 AM

The first graduating class at Blackfalds’ Iron Ridge Secondary Campus will walk across the stage this spring.

It’s a significant moment for the school and the community, as 56 grads take the next step in life.

Principal Ed Coles admits it’s been a learning experience.

“This year we’re going to be hosting grad in our building,” Coles said. “It felt important that the first one be here. It helps establish the culture and traditions of the school.”

Coles added they’d really like the ceremony to reflect and represent the town of Blackfalds.

“They have a picture in their mind of what it’s supposed to be. Part of our role is helping them understand what the day will actually look like,” he said.

“This will be the first group of students to graduate from a high school in Blackfalds. There is a real sense of pride and identity that comes with that.”

The Iron Ridge Secondary Campus graduation ceremony is scheduled for June 26.
