Community invited to double their impact during ‘One Day Challenge’

Mar 23, 2026 | 3:10 PM

Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre PSA — The Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre (CACAC) is inviting the community to come together for its One Day Challenge, a 24-hour fundraising campaign with a goal of $50,000 to support youth who have accessed services through the Sheldon Kennedy Centre of Excellence (SKCOE).

Funds raised will support the Rising Futures Scholarship Fund, which helps youths who have received services through the Sheldon Kennedy Centre of Excellence pursue education and training opportunities. The scholarship aims to remove financial barriers and help young people move forward with confidence and build brighter futures.

Every donation will go twice as far. Thanks to the generous support of Laebon Homes, all donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000, doubling the impact of every contribution.

“As a member of the Rising Futures Scholarship committee, I have been able to see firsthand what the prospect of this Scholarship means to all the applicants during last year’s selection process. The overwhelming majority shared that they would be the first in their family to attend post-secondary education, and many expressed that the scholarship would provide an opportunity they once thought was out of reach,” says Braden Dufresne, CACAC Board of Directors. “The Rising Futures Scholarship aims to support students who have been through the CACAC and SKCOE in pursuing the careers of their dreams, not just this year, but for many years to come. It is a cause I am incredibly proud to be a part of, and I hope our community can come together to support the futures of these deserving young individuals, with the help of Laebon Homes’ generous matching contribution.”

Community members are also invited to take part in the One Day Challenge in person. Join the excitement on Wednesday, March 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Bo’s (2310 50 Ave, Red Deer) for lunch and help us reach our fundraising goal. Guests can enjoy door prizes, pick up their SKCOE merch orders, try on the new SKCOE merchandise line, and show their support for this important initiative. Call Bo’s to reserve your table and be part of a day that helps create brighter futures.

Supporters can also contribute by purchasing items from the new SKCOE Varsity Merch Line, with proceeds supporting the Rising Futures Scholarship. Items can be purchased through the Eventbrite page link below, with pickup available at Bo’s during the event.

The One Day Challenge invites individuals, businesses, and community members to come together and make a lasting impact for youth in our community.
