For non-emergency incidents

Lacombe Police Service launches online reporting system

The Lacombe Police Service has launched an online reporting system.

The new system, which is located on lacombepolice.ca, gives residents a way to report certain non-emergency incidents from home, such as theft under $5,000, lost property, damaged property, and theft from vehicles.

This type of reporting is meant for when there are no suspects and no immediate safety concerns.

“This service is designed to make reporting easier for the public while allowing officers to focus on higher-priority emergency calls,” Lacombe Police Service wrote in a press release. “Citizens can submit a report at any time through the online reporting portal using a computer or mobile device.”

Police say a valid email address is required, and once the report is submitted, it’s reviewed by police personnel, and a file number is issued if it meets the required criteria.

However, if additional information is needed, police may follow up with the person who reported it.

“The online reporting system improves accessibility and efficiency by reducing waiting times and allowing people to report incidents when it is most convenient for them,” LPS added. “It also helps ensure police resources are directed to incidents that require an immediate response.”

LPS would like to remind residents that if a crime is in progress or there is an immediate threat to public safety, citizens should call 911.
