Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre hosting Annual Easter Musical Production

The Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre (CAPCC), a not-for-profit organization, is hosting its Annual Easter Musical Production.

“Alive: A Story of Hope,” with four opportunities to attend:

Thursday, March 19 at 7 pm, Friday, March 20 at 7 pm, Saturday, March 21 at 2:30 pm, and Saturday, March 21 at 7 pm, at Deer Park Alliance Church.

Organizers say this family-friendly event requires no tickets, and is rush seating. Doors will open 30 minutes before each performance.

“Alive: A Story of Hope” is described as an original script by Paul Hankins, a retelling of the Easter story that focuses on the hope of eternal resurrection life. Officials say the play features the resurrections of Lazarus and Jesus as seen through the eyes of siblings Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, and their friends.

The event is free of charge to attend, thanks to the generosity of event sponsors, with proceeds from the production allocated for the Maternity Home Program.

The Central Alberta Preganancy Care Centre says the Aerie is a two-phase Maternity Home Program in Red Deer. The program is said to encompass an emotionally and physically safe environment, offering up to 11 women (at any given time) the opportunity to build trusting relationships, learn new skills, and increase their ability to cope.

During their stay in the program, officials say the women are empowered and taught life skills in a hands-on and relational environment. They learn healthy parenting skills, focusing on attachment, and holistic support is offered to meet varying needs. The program utilizes trauma-informed practices and is staffed 24/7.

Residents who meet the eligibility criteria enter phase one of the program during their pregnancy and move into phase two when their infant is approximately six months old. Officials say phase two residents who continue to meet program outcomes are invited to stay until their child is approximately four-years-old. In phase two, residents continue to pursue education or employment while strengthening their parenting and life skills.

The CAPCC says funds raised allow the Centre to extend grace and provide education and ongoing, compassionate support before, during, and after pregnancy in our local community.
