The Red Deer Rebels announced Darcy Kuemper will receive his own bobblehead this week.

The recent member of Team Canada and Rebels goalie legend has been named the 11th member of the Rebels alumni to receive a bobblehead.

He’s set to be honoured this Saturday when the Rebels host the Prince Albert Raiders at the Centrium. The team announced that the first 1,500 fans who arrive at the game will receive a bobblehead.

Kuemper, who’s from Saskatoon, Sask., joined the Rebels after he was traded to the club from the Spokane Chiefs.

He went on to achieve some of the best goaltending numbers in team history, ranking first in games played with 178, second in wins with 94, second in goals-against-average at 2.48, and third in save-percentage at .914 among goalies who played 50 or more games with the Rebels.

His top season in Red Deer came in 2010-11 when he posted 45 wins, a 1.86 goals-against-average, .933 save-percentage, and 13 shutouts. That year, he was named Rebels Most Valuable Player, WHL Goaltender of the Year, Player of the Year, and CHL Goaltender of the Year.

After leaving Red Deer, he’s played nearly 500 NHL games with the Minnesota Wild, Los Angeles Kings, Colorado Avalanche, Washington Capitals, and Arizona Coyotes.

He also won a Stanley Cup in 2022 as a member of the Colorado Avalanche, as well as two medals as a member of Team Canada.

Kuemper joins Colby Armstrong, Arron Asham, Matt Dumba, Brandon Hagel, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Dion Phaneuf, Brandon Sutter, Cam Ward, Cam Moon, and Woolly Bully as alumni honoured with a bobblehead.

Tickets for “Darcy Kuemper Bobblehead Night, presented by Red Deer Carpet One Floor & Home” on March 7 can be purchased through Tickets Alberta and reddeerrebels.com.
