Sentencing date set in fatal crash south of Wetaskiwin

Feb 27, 2026 | 2:54 PM

Sentencing has been set for a central Alberta man charged in a fatal two-vehicle collision last summer.

Maskwacis resident Terrance Leon Buffalo, 36, is scheduled for sentencing in Wetaskiwin Court of King’s Bench on April 29, 2026.

Buffalo was charged on Oct. 8, 2025, with two counts of impaired operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm and two counts of impaired operation of a conveyance causing death.

This came after Wetaskiwin RCMP attended a head-on collision while patrolling on July 1, 2025, on Highway 2A, south of Wetaskiwin.

Police found two people trapped inside a burning vehicle, and officers were able to get them out shortly before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames.

Meanwhile, two people from the other vehicle involved were pronounced deceased at the scene, including a 61-year-old male resident of Van Nuys and a 64-year-old female resident of Wetaskiwin.

A collision analyst also attended and processed the scene, and the Wetaskiwin RCMP General Investigative Section investigated the incident.
