Charge stayed against Red Deer nurse practitioner accused of sexual assault
A charge has been stayed against a nurse practitioner from Red Deer accused of sexual assault.
Christopher Moon Mah, 46, had his charge stayed in Drumheller Court of King’s Bench on Sept. 17, 2025. He was previously scheduled for trial in Drumheller Court of Justice from Feb. 6-12, 2026.
According to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS), the Crown prosecutor assessed the file including all the admissible evidence; the prosecutor also conducts ongoing reviews of the file to ensure it continues to meet the standard for prosecution. If at any time it does not, the ACPS says charges may be stayed, withdrawn or downgraded. In this matter, the ACPS says a key witness was not available and the matter was stayed on Sept. 17, 2025.
Mah was previously found guilty of the sexual assault charge in Drumheller Court of Justice on July 14, 2023, following his original trial on April 11 of that year. He was found not guilty, however, on a charge of extortion, while one count of criminal breach of trust was withdrawn.
