Red Deer County recently held its annual Protective Services Awards Night, celebrating the achievements and exceptional service, dedication, and professionalism of Red Deer County’s Protective Services members.

They held the awards night on Jan. 31 and recognized the members from across all divisions in fire rescue, emergency management, and patrol.

Awards presented included Years of Service recognition, Alberta Emergency Service Medals, Fire Service Federal Exemplary Service Medals, Ground Search and Rescue, and RCMP Civilian Search and Rescue distinctions, as well as a special acknowledgement of retired members.

“I firmly believe that the health of a community is closely tied to the strength of its local Protective Services team,” said Mayor Brent Ramsay. “On behalf of Red Deer County, I want to express my sincere gratitude to our members, your unwavering dedication to ensuring the safety of our communities and residents is commendable; the roles you fulfill demand extensive training and require time away from both family and work commitments, it’s vital that these sacrifices are acknowledged and appreciated, thank you for keeping us safe.”

“Public safety in Red Deer County is a shared effort, and evenings like this highlight true team effort and the people whose consistent, professional work often happens quietly in the background,” explained Dave Brand, Director of Community and Protective Services. “I want to recognize our Peace Officers for their steady presence and practical problem-solving, our Firefighters for the training, skill, and courage they bring to every call, and our Search and Rescue Volunteers for stepping forward to help neighbours in need; behind every response is significant training, and the strong support of employers and loved ones who make this service possible. Thank you to every member recognized tonight, and to those who stand behind them.”
