The Medicine Hat Tigers brought their ‘A’ game right from the drop of the puck as they blew out the Red Deer Rebels 10-1 on Family Day.

Eight different players on the Tigers found the back of the net, including four power play goals on five opportunities. Meanwhile, Talon Brigley was the lone goal scorer for the Rebels.

Rebels netminder Peyton Shore made 17 saves on 27 shots and Tigers goalie Jordan Switzer made 16 saves on 17 shots.

The Tigers blew the game wide open before the midway point of the first period.

Kadon McCann, Liam Ruck (power play), Kade Stengrim, and Noah Davidson found the back of the net less than six and a half minutes into the game.

In the second period, Tigers veteran forward Andrew Basha made it 5-0 over midway through the frame. However, with less than five minutes left in the second, Rebels captain Talon Brigley got Red Deer on the board.

From that point, it was all Medicine Hat who went on to score five unanswered goals from Markus Ruck, Davidson, Shaeffer Gordon-Carroll, McCann, and Cam Parr.

Ruck, Davidson, and Gordon-Carroll’s goals all came late in the second period while on a five-minute power play after Kohen Lodge was ejected from the game for boarding.

As a result, the Rebels moved down from seventh to eighth place in the Eastern Conference with 14 games to go. The Regina Pats leapfrogged the Rebels after defeating the Swift Current Broncos in overtime on Monday.

The Pats are now just one point ahead of the Rebels and the Moose Jaw Warriors, who also lost on Monday, are one point back from Red Deer.

Next up, the Rebels will welcome the Saskatoon Blades to the Centrium on Friday, Feb. 20 before heading to Calgary on Sunday for an afternoon tilt with the Hitmen.
