Multiple stolen vehicles and collision under investigation in Lacombe

Feb 13, 2026 | 2:47 PM

The Lacombe Police Service is investigating a series of vehicle thefts and a related collision that occurred in the early morning hours of Feb. 12, 2026.

At approximately 1:48 a.m., police received a report of a stolen dark grey 2003 GMC Yukon from the 5500 block of 52 Avenue. LPS alleges a red pickup truck was observed leaving the area with the stolen Yukon.

Approximately 14 minutes later, police responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Heritage Way and Highway 2A. Investigation determined that the stolen GMC Yukon was being followed by a civilian when the Yukon intentionally rammed the civilian’s vehicle, pushing it into a nearby commercial building and causing structural damage. According to police, the stolen Yukon was then abandoned, and the associated red pickup truck fled the area.

While officers were investigating, a red pickup truck believed to be a 2004 GMC Sierra was observed by police travelling northbound on the C&E Trail. According to LPS, the license plate attached to the vehicle was subsequently confirmed as stolen by Breton RCMP; however, the vehicle had left the area prior to that confirmation. The truck was later recovered abandoned on Fieldstone Boulevard.

At approximately 5:00 a.m., while officers continued patrols in relation to the earlier incidents, LPS says a black Ford F150 was located with its doors open in the Hearthstone Drive area. Police say an individual was observed running from the vehicle.

During the investigation, documentation linked to a residence on Sandstone Avenue was located. Police attended the residence and confirmed that a light green 2000 Chevrolet Silverado (Alberta License plate DGU312) had been stolen overnight from the driveway.

LPS says these incidents are believed to be connected, and the investigation remains active.

Anyone with information, dash camera footage, or surveillance video capturing these events between 1:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 12, 2026, is asked to contact the Lacombe Police Service at 403-782-3279.
