Second Sylvan Lake resident sentenced in incident near Crowsnest Pass
The second of two Sylvan Lake residents accused in an incident near Crowsnest Pass a year-and-a-half ago, has now been sentenced.
Lester Martin, 40, was sentenced in Fort MacLeod Court of Justice on Feb. 9, 2026, to a fine of $400 and surcharge of $120, with both payments due by May 15, 2026.
The sentence, which includes a seized items order, was imposed after Martin was convicted on counts of possess break-in instruments, and possess controlled substance. Nine other charges against him were withdrawn.
His co-accused, Jonathan Isaac Arsenault, 26, was previously sentenced on July 17, 2025, to 245 days in jail and ordered to pay restitution of $4,198.23, due immediately. Arsenault, however, was also given credit for 245 days of pre-trial custody, leaving him 0 days left to serve as of his sentencing date.
