RDP Athletes of the Week: Feb. 6-8

Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) Athletics is very proud to announce Kaylee Foster (Queens basketball) and Brett Lower (Kings volleyball) as the Boston Pizza RDP Athletes of the Week:

Kaylee Foster – Queens basketball

Program – Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (3rd)

Hometown – Oregon City, Oregon

Kaylee Foster was an integral member of the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens basketball team this past weekend.

Not only did Foster work hard and contribute to the positive team culture, but she also totalled 31 points, four assists, three rebounds and one steal over two games.

In Friday’s 73-53 setback against the Medicine Hat College Rattlers, Foster, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology student, tied for the team lead with 11 points.

She added three assists and two rebounds while shooting 100 per cent from the free-throw line. She also earned the Player of the Game Award.

On Saturday, Oregon’s Foster, once again, tied teammate Avery Stypula for the most points on the Queens with 20. She also accumulated one steal, one assist and a rebound in the Queens’ 84-73 victory over the Rattlers.

Foster and the RDP Queens will host the Ambrose University Lions on Friday, February 13.

Brett Lower – Kings volleyball

Program – Bachelor of Science in Nursing (5th)

Hometown – Red Deer, Alberta

Red Deer’s Brett Lower had a strong weekend on the court for the RDP Kings Volleyball team.

He played a pivotal role in helping the Kings defeat the Medicine Hat College Rattlers twice at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre, accumulating a total of 17 kills, four digs, two blocks, one service ace, and one assist over five sets.

In Friday’s three-set victory (25-10, 25-9 and 25-17), Lower, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student, contributed three points (two kills and an ace), along with four digs and one assist. Then in Saturday’s sweep (25-17, 25-22 and 25-20), the six-foot-two outside hitter led both teams with 15 kills. He added two stuff blocks and was named the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game.

Next, Lower and the Kings will play the Ambrose University Lions on Friday, February 13.

The RDP Kings will host the 2026 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men’s Volleyball Championship from February 26-28.
