This week in RDP Athletics: Jan. 16-18

This week, the Red Deer Polytechnic basketball and volleyball teams will play the Briercrest College Clippers. The Queens hockey team will challenge the SAIT Trojans, and the Kings hockey team will face the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings. The RDP Curling team will compete at Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Tournament #2.

Volleyball

Queens vs. Clippers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, January 16 | 6 p.m.

The second-seed Red Deer Polytechnic Queens volleyball team (8-2) will host the top-ranked Briercrest College Clippers (10-1). The RDP Queens have averaged 10.71 kills per set.

Queens vs. Clippers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, January 17 | 1 p.m.

The Queens will play the Clippers at home.

Kings vs. Clippers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, January 16 | 8 p.m.

The second-place Kings Volleyball squad (8-2) will compete against the first-place Briercrest College Clippers (10-1) at home.

Kings’ libero Bradley Noskey ranks fourth in ACAC Men’s Volleyball with 2.46 digs per set.

Kings vs. Clippers | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, January 17 | 3 p.m.

The RDP Kings will play the Clippers in Red Deer.

Hockey

Queens vs. Trojans | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Friday, January 16 | 7 p.m.

The second-seed RDP Queens hockey team (12-4) will face off against the fourth-place SAIT Trojans (4-11) at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

Arilyn Toews, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student, leads the Queens offensively with four goals and six assists.

Queens at Trojans | Saturday, January 17 | 7:30 p.m.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Queens hockey team will challenge the SAIT Trojans in Calgary.

Kings at U of A Augustana | Friday, January 16 | 7 p.m.

The RDP Kings hockey team and the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings will clash in Camrose.

Kings vs. Vikings | Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre | Saturday, January 17 | 7 p.m.

The first-place Red Deer Polytechnic Kings hockey team (13-1) will play the third-seed U of A Augustana Vikings (5-9) at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

Tanner Sklaruk leads the league with 16 assists.

Curling

Kings & Queens | ACAC Tournament #2 | January 16-18

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings and Queens curling teams will participate in ACAC Tournament #2 hosted by the NAIT Ooks.

The results from the two tournaments will be combined to determine the top four teams in each division.

These teams will compete in the ACAC Championships held January 30 to February 1 at Lac La Biche Curling Club.

Basketball

Queens at Briercrest College | Friday, January 16 | 5 p.m.

The seventh-place RDP Queens basketball team (3-9) will meet the top-seed Briercrest College Clippers (7-4) in Saskatchewan.

The Queens have averaged 10.7 assists per game.

Queens at Briercrest College | Saturday, January 17 | 12 p.m.

The Queens and Clippers will complete their two-game series.

Kings at Briercrest College | Friday, January 16 | 7 p.m.

The seventh-seed Kings basketball team (1-11) will tip off against the second-place Briercrest College Clippers (8-3) on the road.

The RDP Kings have successfully connected on 36.4 per cent of their shots from the field.

Kings at Briercrest College | Saturday, January 17 | 12 p.m.

The RDP Kings will face the Clippers.
