Rebels swap import players in trade with Penticton Vees

The Red Deer Rebels announced they’ve traded 2006-born forward Samuel Drancak to the Penticton Vees.

In return, they acquired 2008-born defenceman Jiří Kamas, who in 22 games this season has two goals and nine points in 22 games.

The Czechia product, who stands six-feet one-inch tall and 187 pounds, was selected by the Vees in round two, 62nd overall, in the 2025 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

In 2025, he represented Czechia at the World U17 Challenge, as well as the 2025 IIHF U18 World Championship, and the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

Kamas played last season with HC Plzeň, splitting time between the U17 and U20 levels.

Meantime, Drancak played 160 games for the Rebels after being selected by the club in round one, 54th overall at the 2023 CHL Import Draft.

In that time, he notched 76 points, including 33 goals and 43 assists. Drancak suited up for Czechia at the 2014 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and just helped his country win a silver medal at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
