Lacombe Police Service investigates arson and mischief at multi-unit residence

Jan 6, 2026 | 12:29 PM

The Lacombe Police Service is investigating an incident of arson and mischief that occurred yesterday.

Police say that in the early morning hours of Jan. 5, they were dispatched at approximately 6:45 a.m. to a multi-unit residential property located in the 5000 block of 56 Street.

They received reports of windows being smashed and a fire in the alley behind the residence.

Mounties say witnesses reported seeing one or more suspects leaving the area, with one suspect described as wearing either a black or grey sweater with matching pants.

Not long after that, a fire was discovered in the alley as a fence had allegedly been intentionally set on fire, and a power pole also had been damaged.

Lacombe Fire Department extinguished the fire, and Police Dog Services were requested; however, they were unable to find those responsible.

No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.
