Ponoka RCMP respond to fatal collision

Ponoka RCMP responded to a fatal collision on Sunday evening that claimed the life of a 59-year-old resident of Ponoka County.

Mounties responded to the head-on collision at 7:11 p.m. on January 4 on Highway 53, near Range Road 270.

Once they arrived, police say they found the driver of one of the vehicles, a Toyota Echo, deceased. Meantime, the other driver of a Volkswagen Jetta was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The RCMP spent several hours investigating, and the highway is now clear.

Alberta RCMP send their condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
