21 arrested in two-day Red Deer RCMP project aimed at tackling auto theft

The Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team have arrested 21 people as a result of its recently completed two-day Targeted Response to Auto Theft (TRAP) project.

From December 11-12, they led the project that focused on recovering stolen vehicles, arresting those responsible, and executing outstanding warrants.

In addition to the arrests made, they also recovered four stolen vehicles, 31 outstanding warrants were executed, three people are facing new charges, and four weapons were seized, including a gun.

They accomplished this with the assistance of the Red Deer RCMP Downtown Patrol Unit (DPU), Traffic Services, Police Dog Services, RCMP Air Services, and Alberta’s Fugitive Apprehension Sheriff Support Team (FASST).

“Red Deer Crime Reduction Team continues to be committed to the safety of Red Deer,” the RCMP stated in a media release. “The use of intelligence-led strategies allows CRT to focus on repeat offenders and conduct targeted enforcement.”
